Triggers are any verbal or non-verbal action or non-action by another person that stimulates hadow behavior. Triggers may be intentional or unintentional! conscious or unconscious. "hatever the case, they have the potential to set people off. An interesting thing about Triggers and Prints is that each Print has its own specific set of Triggers. "hat bothers one Print may have little impact on another, which is why understanding Prints helps us to accurately identify the #ey Triggers for any given individual.

$n an ideal world, people would not be affected by their Triggers. Their lives would be without stress and they would be in a perpetual state of acceptance and tolerance of others motives and behaviors that differ from their own. 'elationships would be blissful - always. 3ut unfortunately, this isn4t the real world as most people #now it. tress, pressure and demands are constants in people4s lives and others do things that don4t always sit well with their way of thin#ing - and it affects them. 5f course, tools and strategies that prevent one4s Triggers from getting the best of them might be the ultimate solution - and such prevention tools and strategies do e6ist. However, becoming consciously aware of what one4s particular Triggers are is an important and healthy first step. 5nce people are familiar with the things that have the potential to set them off, they can become more cognizant of when they get the feelings - emotional or physical - that signal that their Triggering process is about to begin. And that offers them the opportunity to step bac# and ma#e some good choices, rather than automatically slide into hadow behavior. $n this way, people can begin to change some of their potentially unproductive response patterns into more productive and positive 3est elf behaviors. ome other tips to help a person lessen the triggering process7 try not to ma#e assumptions about other people4s motives or intent, avoid personalizing what another person is saying or doing 8he or she most li#ely says or does the same to everybody9, dialogue, if possible, with the other person to get clarity and to prevent miscommunication and misunderstanding, and as# yourself, :;id you do anything to help create the situation<: These may help people stay in 3est elf.
