Thomas Basini Elizabeth Hinnant English 1101 23 November 2013 Literacy Narrative Reflection This semester our first major assignment was the literacy narrative. In this assignment, we had to write about the biggest social influence in our own literacy. there were so many social forces that affected my literacy, that it was hard to stay on topic, and just talk about the main one. I was able to do it, and it made me think a lot about why I think and act the way I do. It was a look into my past, good and bad. My main social force was musical ensemble. It affected me in ways I would have never imagined without this project. Looking back on why and how this affected me has made me think more while Im in ensemble settings to maximize the effect it has on me. I enjoyed looking at my past it reminded me of some good times Ive had and good music Ive played. We studied other peoples literacy narratives before we wrote our own. This helped me in writing my own a lot. The most influential one was Molly Daniels. She made really good points, and is from a similar area as I am. Looking and analysing her social forces, helped me find and Identify my own. We also studied others such as Malcolm Xs, and Langston Hughess. These help me by giving me good examples to describe my experience, and why I felt the way I did. My Literacy was greatly affected by musical ensemble, and a few other social forces. studied, was the only way I was able to write that paper with confidence. This assignment has helped me with future musical endeavors.
