Rob Walker, Superintendent Pickerington Local School District 90 East St. Pickerington, Oh 43147 Dear Superintendent Walker, It is with tremendous excitement that I am applying for the position of 10th grade English teacher at Pickerington High School North. As a lifelong learner who believes education is for everyone, I am confident that I can offer your district valuable education based insights through my pedagogical expertise and experience in the field. I am a graduate of Pickerington North High School which gives me a strong understanding of the conventions and environment of the district. This will enable me to become not just a successful, collaborative teacher at Pickerington North; it will benefit me becoming an active member of the community. This December, I will graduate from Ohio University with honors and will be prepared to teach English and journalism classes. While earning my degree, I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of different teachers in the field and have acquired 340 additional hours in the classroom than my Integrated Language Arts major counterparts. The CARE program asserted me to become an active, reflective educator and has prepared me to work with a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds. Over the course of my education and experiences in the field, I have developed a solid, scholarly foundation through research and I am anticipating putting my academia to great use. I desire to engage my students in meaningful, rigorous learning that I hope will prepare them for life beyond high school. I believe I can accomplish this through accountability, establishing trust and responsibility, creating a community within my classroom and integrating standards-based lessons with interaction, engagement and technology. My goal is to encourage all students to also be reflective learners so that they will be prepared for learning outside of my classroom. Overall, I am confident that my time and rigorous preparation in the field will make me a valuable asset in your school district. As Pickerington North is a school with excellent academic ratings, I know I will make an exceptional fit as a teacher that will demand critical thinking within the classroom. I look forward to getting to meet with you to discuss your expectations for educators in your district and how I can work to exceed those standards. I am reachable Monday through Friday until 5 p.m. at 614-832-4100. To follow up on my candidacy, I plan to call you November 12th at noon. Please refer to enclosed resume and list of references. Thank you for considering me to join your educational team!

Sincerely, Chelsea A. Poole Enclosures
