Integrative Model The two lesson plans provided are examples of the Integrative model.

Both of the lessons correlate with Elementary level Science lessons. The first lesson is designated to teach the students the phases of the moon. The students are broken up into small groups to complete the lesson. The students take turns each night examining the moon and gathering information to detail the stages that occur. The groups work together and prepare data representations to show their results. The students share their results as a class and show their data representations. They use these tools to complete class activities in the class regarding the moon. Specific questions are asked about the different phases so the students can practice their critical thinking skills to figure out which phase is which. The lesson practices the Integrative model strongly. The students are focusing on learning a body of knowledge, which is the moon. They are gathering information, working in groups, and discussing their results they have found when examining the moon. The second lesson plan deals with identifying plant species. The students are using their own shoes to create an activity using the dichotomous key in their book. The shoes will have codes on them to categorize what they are on the dichotomous key. This activity helps the students work together and gather information to figure out which shoe belongs to which student. The students recorded different characteristics of the shoes to categorize them into different groups. They categorized the groups small enough where they could use critical thinking skills to figure out the owner of the shoe. They are practicing using the key in the book so they can use the key to figure out the different species of plants. The students are gathering information, using representations of data to figure out the shoes, and are hypothesizing different outcomes of the information they gathered. They also used the open ended phase to compare their findings of the shoes. This follows the integrative model well.
