Lecture Discussion The two lesson plans provided follow the Lecture Discussion Model.

The first lesson plan deals with an English subject matter and the second lesson plan goes over a Science subject matter. The first lesson plan the students are learning the elements of the plot of the story. The teacher presented the class with different examples and stories to represent the definition of a plot of a story. Then the students were given a lecture on information about what a plot is and they used graphic organizers to record their notes on the lesson. For a class activity the students were broken into pairs and had to tell a story to their partner. The listener was instructed to write down different notes in order to recite back to the speaker what the plot of their story was. This is a great way to use the Lecture Discussion Model. The students were presented with a discussion at the beginning of class, presented with a lecture on the material, and they had an assessment session at the end of the lesson by listening to a partners story and they had to recite back what the plot was. This follows the model because the students were presented with the lecture and graphic organizer, used comprehension skills to assess the plot of the story, and the teacher used the closure period to go over the lesson. The second lesson plan uses a Science activity. The students are learning what magnets are. The teacher first asked the students questions about magnets to go over and test their prior knowledge of the lesson. Then the students were presented with a whole class lecture by watching mini videos and other technological devices to show examples of magnets. They used group work activities as well. The students were provided with an input chart to record the information. This lesson follows the model with high strengths because the lesson involves representation of the material, the lecture session, and comprehension by involving group work. I think for this lesson plan, I would have used more of a direct instruction model because it seems like this material would need more instruction from the teacher to reassure the students understand the factors of magnets.
