I have spent a lot of time learning how to read, write and play my own music. Along with the viola and piano, I learned how to play guitar. Transition/Background: (0:32-0:40 play Smooth by Santana) (0:41-1:18) I had been saving up to buy a guitar with the allowances my parents gave me. I was able to buy a cheap black Fender electric guitar for about $120 and a book on how to play. After numerous attempts, and consistent failure (0:53-1:18 whomp whomp sound effect) to produce any pleasant sounds from it, I called up Jayson to help me learn how to play. He started learning how to play the guitar a few months after our first concert. I learned the basic chords and simple songs. I didnt like how I sounded though, and so it made me less eager to practice. I eventually gave up on playing the guitar and took a break from playing. (1:19-1:29 play Misguided Ghosts in background) It wasnt until my senior year of high school that I decided to give guitar another try. I signed up for a guitar class with two of my best friends and bought an acoustic guitar. (music fades out) (1:30-2:28) My teacher, Mr. Hudson, showed us how to play some of my all time favorite songs along with some pretty cool blues songs and of course some classics like Hotel California (1:38-1:44 play Hotel California) and My Girl (1:46-1:56 play

clip). This was probably the reason why I practiced so much, because who wouldnt want to learn how to play their favorite songs? Since then, Ive continued playing the guitar and have learned many of my favorite songs. Ive been able to write my own songs, which helped me express my feelings when I was going through a tough time. I hope to continue playing the guitar and continue learning new songs as well.
