Assessment Plan I will assess student progress using tests that will include the information that will

be taught for six days. I will administer two pre- and post- assessments for two topics of the unit and one post-assessment that will have information combined for two topics. The pre- and postassessment will show me who has improved, stayed the same, or did not improve. The one post assessment will show me what the students have learned and did they have an understanding of the content that was being taught. The during assessments will be based on activity sheets and the students answers to questions throughout the lesson. I administered two pre- and post-assessments for two topics of the unit because some students in the class cannot successfully complete a unit test. I have to break the test apart. I am not giving a pre-assessment for two topics of my unit because I allowed the students to observe different types of soils and fossils instead. I will give them a post-assessment that will include soil and fossil information after both lessons have been taught. For one student I will make an accommodation to assist her with the test because she has a difficult time taking tests. The first pre-assessment that I will be administering is on the three types of rocks, sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous. The pre-assessment will have four matching questions. I will score the pre-assessment based on how many questions the students got correct out the total number of questions on the test. The students will be given directions about the preassessments before the assessments are given out. The second pre-assessment that I will be administering is on minerals and the minerals identification key. The pre-assessment will have four multiple choice questions. I will score the pre-assessment based on how many questions the students got correct out of the total number of questions on the test. I will use these preassessments to determine what the students know about the content before I teach it. The during assessment will be mostly observation. During the rocks lessons and activities I plan to observe that the students are writing the correct properties of the rocks on their activity sheets and are answering the questions correctly when they are called on to answer. During the minerals lesson I plan to observe that the students are writing the correct properties of minerals on their activity sheets correctly and are using the minerals identification key correctly during the lesson. While I am teaching the soils and fossils lessons I will observe that the students are answering any questions correctly and that they are writing down the properties correctly. The students will be given a daily grade based on their performance throughout the lessons. The first post-assessment that I will be administering will be identical to the first preassessment on the three types of rocks. I will score the post-assessment based on how many questions the students got correct out of the total number of questions. I will score the postassessment for the students based the schools grading scale. The second post-assessment that I will be administering will be identical to the pre-assessment on minerals and the minerals identification key. I will score the post-assessment based on how many questions the students got

correct out of the total number of questions. I will score the post-assessment for the students based the schools grading scale. The last post-assessment that I will be administering is the soils and fossils assessment. This assessment will not have a pre-assessment because the students will observe different types of soils and fossils. I will score the post-assessment based on how many questions the students got correct out of the total number of questions. I will score the postassessment for the students based the schools grading scale. Pre- and Post-Assessments: Rocks - pre-assessment (rocks).jpeg Minerals - Science Unit\pretest minerals.docx Post Assessment: Soils and Fossils - Science Unit\Soils and Fossil Test.docx I plan to use these assessments to help me determine the impact on student learning. The pre- and post-assessments will show me the students who improved, stayed the same, or did not improve. The post-assessment will show me what the students learned after the content was taught. I will also use the assessments to help me determine if I need to re-teach a lesson to the whole class or pull small groups.
