Date: October 31, 2013 1. Creators Name (author, painter, sculptor, etc.): Shalmali Pal 2: Creations Title: Looking for My Prince Charming 3. What does the title suggest to you? It suggests to me that a woman is set out on a type of mission looking for the right man for her. Someone she thinks is perfect for her and fits into her lifestyle.

4. In your own words give a brief description/summary of the work (your object here will be to describe the work to someone who doesnt know it). Should be 150-200 words. In India you are believed to have an arranged marriage, where the parents choose who they think suits their daughter best and their lifestyle. Well in this story an Indian woman is raised in America and not India, she is looking for her prince charming, but finds it very difficult while her parents her parents are the ones choosing the man for her. Her parents believe the right type of man is one who has a good paying job, is Indian and is tall. The problem in this story is she does not like the men her family/parents have chose for her to date. She much rather select a man she prefers and wants to continue looking for her Mr. Right she knows in the end her family ultimately has the overall decision of who she will or should marry. She just wishes she could create a

man with all the qualities she wants in a man and a man she would marry.

5. What questions do you have about the work? My questions about this work would be why do the parents have to pick the future husband for their daughters? Does she have any real say in whom she would want to marry? What are all the characteristics the parents look for? Do these types of marriages last? Can you or are you allowed to get divorced in this culture? What are the rules to Indian arranged marriages?
