Reflective Writing: Rhetorical Analysis

1. Looking back at the reflective writing for the ad analysis were you able to address the issues, questions, skills you identified? Yes? No? why/why not? What needs further attention? In part I addressed some of the skills I mentioned in my ad analysis. I kept up with different ways for my intro and conclusion to make it catch the eye of the reader. I didnt really work on the use of my vocab and comma use because I focused so much on transitions and not sounding repetitive/choppy/boring. I tried to use different transitional words and different ways to start my sentence up so it wasnt so boring. I think my comma use and transitions might still need some further attention. 2. If you knew someone who was about to begin this type of writing assignment, what advice would you give him/her, based on your experience and what you have learned? I think the top advice I would give is to pick a solid article that you know a good bit about as well. I would recommend one that gives a lot of facts that they back up, not an article just full of the authors opinion. Personally, I wish I wouldve picked an article where the authors name was mentioned because it wouldve been easier to say the authors name, he/she, etc., instead of the author, the editorial, they, etc. I would also advise to give an even amount of facts and opinions well described so it balances your paper. Something I learned was to have a really detailed introduction so that the reader feels like they really read the article. Make sure you also include your opinion on the article to conclude so the reader understands your paper in conclusion. 3. Looking ahead argument and research what about the rhetorical analysis do you want to take with you? What questions and concerns do you have about argument? Research? I want to evenly provide both sides of the argument and not over point the side of the argument I am taking. I want to have a solid intro that describes the argument well so the reader has a full understanding before I discuss the argument. I want an even amount of logos, pathos, ethos throughout my paper. Some concerns I have are having solid transitions and getting enough solid facts to write a decent paper. I also want to have good

sources for my research. Im concerned about having enough facts to make my argument seem valid and not going back and forth between sides.
