Final Course Reflection To begin, I feel that majority of the goals have been attained for the course. Specifically Icap goals, I feel that I was able to understand rhetorical situation of writing including purpose, audience, and context. This was mainly done through Unit 2, where we learned about rhetorical situations through articles. I also felt that the second goal was reached. I was able to prepare for writing in later university courses across the curriculum by learning to articulate, develop, and support a point through primary and secondary research. I feel that this was achieved through unit three. I was able to write about a discourse community using primary and secondary research as my sources. I used questionnaires as my primary resources and online sources as my second. In addition, I learned that writing can and should be used for multiple academic, civic, professional, and personal purposes. I feel that each unit helped with this. The first unit was more personal because it dealt with my life. The second unit, audio essay, was still personal because it was for a close family. The third unit was more professional because it was written in a newspaper format and for the public. The last unit was the most professional because it was an analysis on an article that had been previously written and was intended for the public. The fourth goal was also reached. I felt that I wrote with a means of discovery and learning. I felt that the topics were much more interesting in this class, and I was able to discover and learn in a better setting. I liked the creativity aspect. An example of this would be when we

got to research a topic of our choice in Unit 4. We also got to create an audio essay in Unit 2 and customize it however we wanted. The last Icap goal was attained when I was able to create, interpret, and evaluate a variety of types of texts integrating verbal and visual components. This was primarily done through Unit projects and articles we read in class. In respect to personal goals, I felt that I had attained my goals for the most part. My three goals were to improve my writing skills and creativity by the end of the semester, try to participate more in class, and enjoy reading and writing more instead of making it a burden. I achieved all of these goals except I needed to participate in class more. All in all, I felt that the class was very creative and good.
