ILC-I AWARDS 2013 ILC-I applauds those, who bring quality of life to the elderly, with its annual

ILC-I Awards. These awards include a national award named as Anjani Mashelkar Inclusive Innovation Award , which caters to the best innovation for helping to improve the quality of life of the poor old people, the BG Deshmukh Awards for Excellence in Promoting Qualitative Ageing and the S. D. Gokhale award for promoting the cause of the aged population by a young and upcoming journalist. The third ILC-I Awards function was held on the 17th of November 2013 at YASHADA. The Awards were given away by Dr. Abhay Bang, the renowned Community Health Innovator and Director, Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health.

1) The Shri B. G. Deshmukh Awards which has two sets of Awards- a) for "Promoting Excellence in Qualitative Ageing" given to older persons organisations for the commendable work done by them to alleviate the situation of not just the elderly (or senior citizens as they are referred to in India) but also help in the development of society in general and b) The Lifetime Achievement Award which is given to older persons over the age of 70 years for their outstanding lifetime contributions in the fields of literature, sports, arts, academics, social work, culture, music etc.

This year's late B. G. Deshmukh Award for "Promoting Excellence in Qualitative Ageing" went to the Jyeshtha Nagrik Sangha, Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Dr. Ravindra Tongaonkar for the community service rendered by him for the last forty years.

2) The late Dr. S. D. Gokhale Award for Qualitative Journalism in Ageing was given to Ms. Yamini Sapre, Correspondent, Maharashtra Times, Mumbai edition.

3) The late Smt. Anjani Mashelkar Inclusive Innovation Award was given to Mr. Leo Mavely of Axio Biosolutions for his innovation- the emergency haemostatic dressing Axiostat which stops traumatic external bleeding induced by accidental injuries, gunshot wounds etc.
