2. Comments on teacher candidate's effectiveness of overall instruction, use of developmentally appropriate strategies, ability to lead the class, professionalism, attitudes, and demeanor throughout the period of observation:

This was a lesson on latitude and longitude. Ms. Scarry had placed pieces of masking tape around the room with latitude and longitude numbers. Students were asked to walk around the room and record these numbers. They returned to their seats and tried to guess what they were (actual longitude and latitude in the room). Students were given a sheet of Virginia Beach and asked to look at the longitude and latitude of various landmarks, such as the Aquarium. The sheet was a little hard to read so Ms. Scarry shifted to using the maps on the wall. A game was then initiated to review these concepts. The class got slightly rowdy, so Ms. Scarry shifted to another activity. Ms. Scarry had an excellent lesson plan, the best amongst all the Regent student teachers this semester! She also demonstrated outstanding flexibility in her instruction.
