Master thesis and work placement in Space Systems Dear Mr. Gerndt, I am writing in response to recent advertisement for the master thesis Integration einer PythonUmgebung in das Satellitenentwurfstool Virtueller Satellit im Projekt Virtueller Satellit posted the DLR portal. I believe that I am an excellent candidate to take part in this project. I thrust that my covering letter and my attached CV will fully demonstrate why it is beneficial to enroll me in your research. I am studying third year of Master degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield, currently spending a year at the University of Texas at Austin as an exchange student. While studying in US I have had chance to develop my profound interest in space systems during multiple seminars, meetings and optional projects I am enrolled in. In the course of one of the talks I was introduced to opportunities that Europe has to offer, particularly DLR in Germany. I believe that there is great future for space industry and I want to be a part of it. During my previous work placement opportunities I have learned that there is a great demand for aerospace engineers fluent in programming and control engineering. Last summer I was accepted to conclude a project for control of a high precision countersinking cell in ARMC with Boeing. It required extensive knowledge in PLC programming, embedded systems and control software. Even though those fields of study were superficially covered at my university, I have gained plentiful valuable skills substantial for my future career. Moreover at the completion my final report has positively accepted as exceeding expectations. As an undergraduate I already had a foretaste of Ph.D. research via the SURE scheme at University of Sheffield and while I have joined a research team of the University of Texas professor, who not only supports my current project in computer simulation, but also introduced me to optimization and control of spacecraft based on his former work for JPL at NASA. My miscellaneous previous experiences are the primary reason why I would like to work with your company. I would be grateful to have a chance of development and what is more work on something I am genuinely passionate about. Yours sincerely, Alicja Wasik
