Aluminum carbonate

Aluminum is a sliver white metal that is located in group thirteen on the periodic table. Its ductile malleable and an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. Carbonate is a compound that contains the carbonate ion of Co3 negative two. When you put them together you get aluminum carbonate. Aluminum carbonate is the carbonate salt form of aluminum designed for oral ingestion. Aluminum carbonate is used to treat heartburn, acid reflux, and a sour stomach. Aluminum carbonate is also used to treat, control, or manage high levels of phosphate in the body. Aluminum carbonate is also used with a low phosphate diet to prevent the formation of phosphate urinary stones. Aluminum is a chemical bond. A chemical bond is the mutual attraction between nuclei and valance electrons of different atoms. The type of bond depends on the differences in electronegativity. There are three main type of bonds there is ionic, metallic, and covalent. Based on the octet rule these types of bonds share or trade electrons to get eight in their outer shell. Aluminum carbonate is an ionic bond. Ionic bonding is an attraction between positive and negative ions. Its electrons are always transferred from a metal to a non-metal. When this happens the metal loses an electron and becomes positively charged making it a cation. Then the non-metal gains an electron and becomes negatively charged making it an anion. The physical properties of an ionic compound is that it is a solid, has a high melting point, its hard and brittle, and theyre very good conductors of electricity if its soluble or if its dissolved. Ionic compounds are electrically natural which means the sum of the charges in an ionic compound must be zero. Aluminum carbonate is also a single ionic bond. Which means that it only shares one pair of electrons, its the longest but weakest, and it takes less energy to produce. The chemical formula shows the kinds and numbers of atoms in the smallest representative unit or a substance. The formula for aluminum carbonate is Al2(CO3)3. The 2 after the Al and 3 after CO3 should be subscripts. This means that 3 aluminum ions (with a +3 charge) combines with 3 carbonate ions (with a 2- charge) to get a neutral compound.

Before taking aluminum carbonate it is really important that you talk to your doctor. Aluminum can decrease the effects of many other medicines by binding to them or by changing the acidity of the stomach or the urine you may not be able to take aluminum carbonate or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions. Kidney disease, any disease that causes slow emptying of the stomach or take any other medicines It is not known whether aluminum carbonate will harm an unborn baby.
