Lesson 4 of 4 Floor Hockey Coach Podwarski Agawam High School 1. Planning/Preparation On this lesson, I think that the idea to play floor hockey was a great thought, it was just poorly executed. If I were to do this lesson again, then I would need to make sure that I plan the rules better so that the students understand for the future because I was their first time playing an actual game. This will allow the students more OTRs because I will not have to sit them out so often. 2. Lesson Content Overall the content was right where it needed to be in terms of the difficulty for the students because they were able to do what I asked of them without any trouble but they just had a little trouble understanding the rules. It was only their 2nd day of floor hockey so next time if I were to do this I would need to make sure that I go over certain skills before allowing games to be played. 3. Transition/Classroom Management One thing that went well with this lesson was that everyone got a chance to play (even if it was against their will). One thing that I would need to work on for next week is just making sure that I reinforce the rules and not to be afraid to blow the whistle. 4. Content Delivery In my second lesson, I delivered my content better than in the first because I made sure that in the beginning I went over a few skill cues that were needed for floor hockey. One thing I definitely need to work on is explaining the rules a lot better and to make sure I addressed the safety hazards that could be a problem for the students. 5. Feedback given by you to the Students This is one of my strongest aspects while I am teaching but this week did not go so well in terms of feedback. During my lessons, I was giving feedback to the students but it was simple things like good shot. One thing that will come with practice is having more enthusiasm while giving feedback. 6. Feedback you received from Cooperating Teacher

Coach Podwerski said that I need to make sure that I am constantly on top of the students when it comes to calling penalties. The main thing that Coach Podwerski reiterated to me was that energy is extremely important especially in a floor hockey lesson. If the students see how pumped up the teacher is then it makes the students get even more excited to play. The most important thing that I learned from teaching today is that I need to make sure I enforce the rules throughout the whole game and not just during closure. Also, the major thing that I need to focus on is my energy levels during my lesson. Today, I was a little flat in regards to energy. The students will feed off of the teachers energy. The main thing that I learned was that even if as the teacher you do not like the lesson that you are teaching, you have to be confident and enthusiastic about the lesson otherwise the students will not want to be their. This is when the class becomes boring for everyone!
