Write a Student Learning Objective (in student friendly language) that is Aligned to Your Standard

Traditional Assessment - Evidence of Student Mastery In a low tech more traditional setting, how would you know if your students met the objectives you set?

It would be evident that the students have met the objective without the use of technology by having the students answer questions about the illustrations and the text either by writing or out loud.

Describe the Technological Tool You Will be Using as Part of this Assessment (http://abletech.wikispaces.com/) Prezi or Power Point can be used to display the list of the similarities and the differences between text and illustrations. Kerpoof can be used to have the students create their own stories and illustrations that they then can use to complete the standard CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.1.6.

Which of our essential skills will you expect your students to exhibit in this assessment? (Minimum of 3)

Leadership Practical Life Skills Adaptability X Interpersonal/Collaboration Global Brokerage Well Roundedness X Communication X Critical Thinking

Describe Your Vision for your Revamped Assessment - Evidence of Student Mastery In a modern setting, how would you know if your students met the objectives you set? Which technology tool will you use? How will you incorporate the technology? How/where will you weave the important 21st century skills that we identified (leadership, practical life skills, adaptability, interpersonal, global brokerage, well roundedness, communication, critical thinking)?

In order to help students meet the objectives I have set, I will use the technological tools that Kerpoof offers. This website offers tools that students can create their own stories with illustrations. They will be able to collaborate with other students or create their story on their own. By doing this I can help students to be more creative and enhance their critical thinking. The students will share their stories with other students and by doing this their communication should be improved as well as having met or made movements to meeting the set objective. In addition, Power Point or Prezi can be used to organize the information and ideas that students come up with to distinguish between information provided by pictures or other illustrations and information provided by the words in a text.

What Do You See as the Benefits and Possible Pitfalls of Your New Modern Assessment? Benefits: Possible Pitfalls:

Students will meet the objective Creative and Fun activity Students should be able to express themselves Students can work on their story/illustrations at home or out of class Could be useful for students outside of lesson

- Students can get distracted from the task easily - Students may not meet the objective - Potential for difficulties with website - Students may be new to website - Comprehension of the website and tools necessary for the completion may take time.
