Bleed Orange. Think Green.

The University of Texas at Austin is committed to the preservation of natural resources so that they can be enjoyed by this generation and generations to come. With that intent, the Office of Sustainability has initiated a project geared toward creating new recycling standards for the UT Austin campus. Based on W 26th St criteria related to location, convenience, and demand, this project is intended to find suitable areas for new recycling bins. Data was collected utilizing a Samsung Galaxy SIII smartphone and the applications EpiCollect and Locus.GPS locations were stored in a database in the cloud and transferred to ArcMap for analysis. As a result, it has been concluded that a minimum of an additional 108 new recycling bins will need to be added to the exsisting inventory.
