WASTAGE OF BUILDING MATERIALS IN A MASS HOUSING PROJECT: A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT This project is to fill a void created by the absence of proper wastage control and materials management on construction sites (Mass Housing Project). To managing a productive and cost efficient site efficient material management is very essential. Research has shown that building materials and e uipment may constitute more than !"# of the total cost for a typical construction project. Therefore the proper management of this single largest component i.e$ building materials can improve the productivity and cost efficiency of a project and help ensure its timely completion. %ne of the major problems in delaying construction projects is poor materials and e uipment management. This project describes the main results of survey carried out in a mass housing project in Hyderabad that shows the uantity of building materials being wasted and what all measures can be ta&en to effectively control them.
