No ABAP efforts are required for the SAP data migration. However, efforts are required to map the data into the structure according to the pre-determined format as specified by the pre-written ABAP up oad program of the !S"#. $he !egacy System "igration #or%bench &!S"#' is a too recommended by SAP that you can use to transfer data once on y or periodica y from egacy systems into an ()* System. "ore and more medium-si+ed firms are imp ementing SAP so utions, and many of them have their egacy data in des%top programs. ,n this case, the data is e-ported in a format that can be read by P. spreadsheet systems. As a resu t, the data transfer is mere chi d/s p ay0 Simp y enter the fie d names in the first ine of the tab e, and the !S" #or%bench/s import routine automatica y generates the input fi e for your conversion program. $he !S" #or%bench ets you chec% the data for migration against the current settings of your customi+ing. $he chec% is performed after the data migration, but before the update in your database. So a though it was designed for up oading of egacy data it is not restricted to this use. #e use it for mass changes, i.e. up oading new)rep acement data and it is great, but there are imits on its functiona ity, depending on the comp e-ity of the transaction you are trying to rep icate. $he SAP transaction code is 1LSMW1 for SAP version 2.3-. 4or those with the o der SAP version &2.5 and be ow', the data migration programs might not have been pre- oaded. $he !S" #or%bench carries out the fo owing tas%s0

Note that with bac%ground processing, the input fi e must not be ocated in the presentation server. Access to presentation server fi es is on y possib e when you are wor%ing on ine.
