• Egyptians though that people became sick when a disease or illness caused
worms to form in the body.
• Thought that magic spells, medicine, or both were needed to get rid of the
worms and cure the patient.
• Used parts of plants, and herbs, in their treatments

• Ancient Egyptian Magicians were needed when other treatments were limited
or didn't supply a cure
• Treated injuries and wounds with bandages and stitches but not surgery.

• To stop diarrhea, Doctors would get

1/8th cup figs and grapes, bread dough, pit corn, fresh Earth, onion,
and elderberry and they would have to eat that.
• To cure indigestion they would crush a hogs tooth and put it inside of four
sugar cakes. The patients then must eat the mixture for four days
• To cure lesions (a break in the skin or organ caused by violence) of the skin
they would put scribes excrement or waste matter in with milk and a soft, moist
mass of cloth, bread, meal, and herbs on the lesion.
