O Grade Level: Sixth Grade Subject Area: Reading, Writing, and Communicating 1. Lesson Topic (What is the big idea?): Student will learn the definitions of a 6th grade vocabulary list by playing a modified version of BINGO. 2. What standard(s) will it address? Content Area: Reading, Writing, and Communicating Grade Level Expectation: Sixth Grade Standard: 2. Reading for All Purposes 3. Word meanings are determined by how they are designed and how they are used in context EEO I. Identify the meaning of 2 3 key phrases in content specific text by matching text to a picture, model or action. 3. Main Objective of Instruction (What do you want the student(s) to learn?): When given a vocabulary word, from a pre-determined grade level vocabulary list, the student will be able to show the words meaning by matching the word to a picture or definition. The student will be able to match 10 out of the 12 words on the list. 4. Supporting Objectives: Student will practice basic reading skills. 5. Specific Strategies (conspicuous) to be taught/modeled: Informal activity 6. Planning for individual differences (mediated scaffolding): What are the accommodations/modifications you need to prepare? The student may need clues or prompts to help her remember the definition to the words. 7. What background knowledge do the students have? How will you assess students learning pre, during and post? The student has been given a grade-level vocabulary list. The student has received a lesson, from another teacher, on half of the vocabulary list. Pre-assessment I will give the student a vocabulary match worksheet. The worksheet will

During I will watch the student during the BINGO game to see if she can match the vocabulary word with correct definition or picture. Post I will give the student another vocabulary match worksheet.

8. What management/grouping issues do you need to consider? This lesson will be given one-on-one with the student in the ILC classroom. 9. Materials and Resources: Vocab BINGO game, Vocabulary match worksheet 10. How/where will students be able to integrate (generalize) this learning? The student will be able to expand her working vocabulary and understand these words across several content areas. 11. How will you evaluate student learning from this lesson and build review into ongoing instruction (judicious review)? I will watch to see if the student is able to match the vocabulary words. I will watch to see if the student is able to understand the vocabulary words in other content areas.

Rutherford, H Vocab BINGO Lesson Plan 3 Lesson Title: Prairie Dog Vocabulary Main Objective of this lesson: When given a vocabulary word, from a pre-determined grade level vocabulary list, the student will be able to show the words meaning by matching the word to a picture or definition. The student will be able to match 10 out of the 12 words on the list. (CONTENT-PROCESS) I. Opening: (SET How will you get the student(s) attention?) Relate lesson to prior learning. Communicate the objective of the lesson. I will ask the student if she can tell me about the words on her current vocabulary list. I will ask her to tell me the definitions, in her own words, without looking at the definitions on the list.

II. Procedure: (Is this an informal presentation, direct instruction, or structured discovery?) This will be a one-on-one lesson using an informal learning activity. o Strategies (I Do/ how will you guide students to construct meaning for themselves): I Do: I will call out the word or definition. o Differentiation: This lesson is one-on-one and is tailored for the students needs. o (PRODUCT) The student will correctly identify the definitions of the words on the vocabulary list. o Guided Practice (We Do/students present): We Do: The student will cover the correct word, definition, or picture with her token. I will provide prompting, as needed. III. Closure: Student(s) summarize, demonstrate learning of lesson. Independent Practice (You Do). You Do: I will ask the student to complete the vocabulary match worksheet. Formally END the lesson. I will praise the students for his/her hard work.
