January 2014 To Whom It May Concern: I highly recommend Ms. Allie Wood as a candidate for a teaching position.

Allie spent 9 weeks observing, assisting, and teaching in my 5th grade Science class at Columbus Academy in Gahanna, Ohio. During her time in my classroom she showed students how to create different Foldables (a three-dimensional graphic organizer that takes information and makes it visually and kinesthetically appealing to students) and taught lessons on Oceanography (some lessons taught were the water cycle, mapping the ocean floor, and waves, just to name a few). For each lesson Allie did, the students were actively engaged the entire time. She always introduced the lesson by writing key words on the board or asking students questions to get their interest in the topic, and then had an activity for them to do. She had students building mountains to show runoff during the water cycle, and she had students line-up side-by-side, hold hands, and move their arms up and down to demonstrate energy motion through a wave. Allie created a board review game on Oceans which students thoroughly enjoyed playing. She then gave an assessment on the Ocean Floor and the Water Cycle using the website Edmodo, an online network for teachers and students to use and collaborate with each other. Allie also used an iPad and Apple TV with the students and became quite adept at using these. Allie interacted so well with the students and they had such great respect for her. She never had a problem managing students. For those few who were a bit disruptive by calling out to answer, she quickly gave a simple reminder to raise their hand to comment or participate and students cooperated. I highly recommend Allie to you without reservation. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely,
