Fleming's right-hand rule

a mnemonic concerning the behaviour of a conductor moving in a magnetic field, according to which the directions of the magnetic field, the induced current, and the motion of the conductor are indicated respectively by the first finger, second finger, and thumb of the right hand when these are held out perpendicular to each other.

what is SNUBBER CIRCUIT? why it is used in power electonic applications?

snubber circuit is basically series connected resistor and capacitor connected across the thyristor... snubber circuit is required inorder to supress the rate of rise of forward voltage i.e., dv/dt across the thyristor.. otherwise the thyristor gets damaged.. im unable to draw the ckt here but let me explain it... take inductor, resistor and thyristor and supply as closed ckt... connect series combination of R,C across the thyristor... this gives u the snubber ckt.. the capacitor across the thyristor terminals will set up an appropriate current i=C(dv/dt) in the capacitor.. the inductance in the circuit will limit the magnitude of the current to the capacitor and hence limits dv/dt and also limits the di/dt when the thyristor is turned on...
