Terms related to life after high school: 401k: a retirement investment plan that allows an employee to put a percentage of earned wages into a tax-deferred investment account selected by the employer. Pension: a sum of money paid regularly as a retirement benefit or by way of patronage. Mortgage: a conveyance of an interest in property as security for the repayment of money borrowed. Credit Rating: a classification of credit risk based on investigation of a customer's or potential customer's financial resources, prior payment pattern, and personal history or degree of personal responsibility for debts incurred. Roth IRA: an individual retirement account in which investments are made with taxable dollars, but earnings are tax-free and withdrawals are tax-free after age 59 1/2. Annuity: a specified income payable at stated intervals for a fixed or a contingent period, often for the recipient's life, in consideration of a stipulated premium paid either in prior installment payments or in a single payment. Terms related to my career: Leadership: the direction, governorship or stewardship of a group. Partisanship: prejudice in favor of a particular cause; bias. Political party: an organization to gain political power. Liberalism: a political orientation that favors social progress by reform and by changing laws rather than by revolution. Conservatism: a political or theological orientation advocating the preservation of the best in society and opposing radical changes. Progressivism: the political orientation of those who favor progress toward better conditions in government and society. Compromise: settle a dispute by mutual concession.
