GMAT vs CAT : Is the Indian version losing its shine?

MBA is a dream shared by lakhs of students all over world and they burn their mid night oil to take entrance exams and to get into a coveted B- school. Though many exams are conducted by different colleges throughout the year but it is the exams acceptability by the well-known MBA colleges that makes them students first choice. Two such famous exams are MAT and !AT. Both the exams are e"ually competent in testing students aptitude but both have lots of differences. #ach has few merits and demerits over the other. MAT has a merit of flexibility. $t is an adaptive test that tests the level of aptitude of the student individually% can be taken throughout the year as per the students comfort and up to & times a year where the best result would be counted. $ts score is valid for & years so one can take MAT right after college and get admission after a work experience of up to & years. !AT has its merits of being easily affordable and widely acceptable by most $ndian B schools. Though it doesnt allow much flexibility% it could be taken only one a year and also valid for ' year hence even if a well prepared student could not perform decently in !AT he(she would have to wait for the next year to fulfill their dreams of MBA. The rigid structure is definitely hampering !ATs image in the eyes of students% but MATs high cost and less acceptances in $ndia still works in its favor. Another ma)or merit is that it is conducted by $ndias most famous B-schools% the $$Ms% which adds reputation and class to the exam. *or MBA admissions in $ndia !at was always the first choice and would remain the first% its shine wont fade in $ndia atleast not so soon.
