r team is a hugely important value to exude at all times and at all points during ones lifetime. Commitment is a critical value because it displays a willingness to dedicate yourself to a task through and through. I have displayed this skill through my dedication and commitment to the Hanover-Horton H.S. Debate Club, which I founded, throughout my junior year, despite low attendance and interest. Although I probably could have gotten discouraged and given up on the club, I knew that this would betray these values of dedication and commitment, which I believe to be hugely important to your character. My experience with the HHHS Debate Club has helped me to harness this skill for several reasons. First and foremost, it has taught me to remain dedicated to what I start. It has taught me that remaining dedicated is sometimes a struggle, but is always the right choice. Yes, it is fairly easy to remain committed to your team when the going is easy, but it is much more difficult when the going gets rough. However, it does much to show your true character as a person by remaining dedicated and committed. I remained committed, specifically, through actively recruiting members, persisting in holding meetings regularly regardless of low attendance, and advertising the group through flyers and announcements. Commitment to a team is a value which I must show as an elected official, as it is thoroughly expected that you remain committed to governing the nation, which is a very important task. Commitment also helps me currently by showing others that I am dedicated to what I do, and that I will hold to my word regardless of new developments or circumstances. For example, by running for, and being elected to, an office of government, one in effect promises to remain fully committed to his task of governance for the duration of his term. If this obligation is not met, said official fails in his duty to the nation and its people. Therefore, this skill is crucial in my career field.
