Course Requirements and Grading
YOU alone are responsible to EARN whatever grade you desire! Put forth effort and hard work and it will
show!
Participation (40% of total grade)
Students will be graded on their participation in class activities; this includes completing the bell ringers, class
assignments, taking notes, homework, and keeping their notebook organized. Students will also be awarded
points for being on time, helping others, and actively participating in class discussions.

Homework/Projects (20% of total grade)
Homework is due at the beginning of the period on the due date. Assignments anytime after are considered late.
Incomplete assignments will not be accepted. Late assignments can be turned in up to two weeks after the
original due date for no more than half credit. Papers with no names will not be graded. If you were absent, it
is your responsibility to look at the calendar to see what was missed and make up the activities. Students with
excused absences will be allowed the same number of days to make up work as they were absent. Projects will
also be completed during each unit.

Quizzes/Final Exam (40% of total grade)
Quizzes will be given weekly. These quizzes will cover information we have learned that week and a map quiz
for the region that we are studying. In addition, students will take a cumulative final exam at the end of the
course.

Classroom Procedures

! Entering the Classroom Come in quietly, without lingering around door, take assigned seat, get out
notebook and pencil and be ready to begin when bell rings.
! Tardy You are considered tardy if you are not in your seat when the bell rings. Please enter quietly, sign
the detention log, and join the activity in session. (No discussion or disruption is necessary!) If you have a
pass, please sign the log and place on the clipboard. You may turn in a Tiger Ticket to avoid detention. On
the same day as your tardy you will be required to serve a 15 minute detention during lunch or after school
or before school the next day.
! Study Buddy If your study buddy is absent, pick up an extra set of handouts, write their name on the
papers and put it in the absent bin.
! Missed Class Pick up missed work from Absent bin. Have questions consult your study buddy and then
ask the teacher (at an appropriate time). It is your responsibility to make up any class assignments or
homework and make arrangements for missed tests, quizzes, or presentations. Remember your presence in
the classroom is essential to master history!
! Transitions Pay attention: look up and be quiet, quickly move to assigned location, listen for directions,
and clean your workspace.
