This may take some practice. You will need to make sure that you have all of the equipment and necessary items ready before the lesson. Finally, you will need to have a schedule and student groupings ready to use the

Guided Instruction Open the lesson by talking about the variety of ways miners found gold. Refer to pages 234 and 235 in the Reflections text for helpful information in both picture and text. Students will observe a video on how to pan for gold (video streaming) *See above. Then, you physically demonstrate the techniques they watched in the video by using the items available in class. You may not be able to demonstrate all of the ways, but use what you can. Independent Activity Students will then determine a list of necessary items miners would need to find gold. Create a checklist on Word listing these items. In their Gold Rush blog, they will discuss their favorite way they observed how to pan or mine for gold. They will detail why they liked that option. Homework For homework this evening, students will complete page 61in the Reflections homework and practice workbook. <
