Learning Objectives
O After this unit, students will understand the

terms and definitions of classification, classify, sort, group, and alike. O At completion of this unit, students will be capable of sorting and grouping objects that are alike by color, shape, and size. O In conclusion of this session, students will experiment with other ways to classify objects.

Classify: to sort or group things that are alike


To classify means to 1 : to arrange in classes <classifying books according to subject matter>; 2 : to assign (as a document) to a category (MerriamWebster, 2013).

Definitions
O Sort : a group set up on the basis of any

characteristic in common

O Group an assemblage [joining] of objects

regarded as a unit

O Alike : in the same manner, form, or

degree
