1- What are the new power guidelines that you follow and how could you implement them? Power: the ability of one person to influence other and exercise control over them. Having authority over others can have both positive and negative consequences. The new guidelines are: Become more action oriented Show more interpersonal sensitivity Focus on rules Become more generous To implement them: o o o Motivate my subordinates to do their best Create healthy work environment and Manage organizational culture that provide creativity, confidence and respect

2- Provide examples for each personal source of power. Why are some forms of power more influential than others? The individual sources of power are: Legitimate Coercive Reward Expert Referent

Only two these sources are personal sources of power as below and the rest can be obtain through position: Expert power: based on leaders knowledge and experience. This power influences the subordinates; this because they do trust and believe on your knowledge and experience, so they will comply will with your advice. Referent power: bases on the power holders personality and personal characteristics. The manager should have personal appeal and has strong emotional power with others. Followers will comply because they do respect and trust that person. Some power sources have a greater influence than others as expert power. As it based on the leaders experience & knowledge. Such the leader is respected and beneficial to his followers, and it also reduces the level of resistance and affects their results

3- Provide Scenarios for the appropriate use of each source of power.

Legitimate: when situation require more managerial skills as managing daily tasks and operations of the business Coercive: This to be used only in case of very high resistance that all tactics used already without positive reaction. Reward: When the leader have the authority and ability to reward his over performers followers. Expert: This will be a start when it used with crises and uncertainty, also to assist your followers in hard tasks. Referent: This is others power delegated by empowerment or by direct personal relationship, and this could be used with teams that you dont have direct organizational authority, so you use this indirect authority by referent power of others that this team already respect and trust.
