Project Initiation

Background description This is the first step of this project and it basically aims at providing alternate source of employmnet for the people initially dealing with the manufacturing of plastic bags. With the initiation of ban on plastic in Delhi,the project focuses on employing the same community and others too in the manufacturing of cloth bags instead-an appropraite & eco friendly alternative to plastic bags.

The initiation of the project will be further achieved in the following steps: Identifying the community workinf in the manufacturing plants of plastic bags. Making them aware about the ban on plastic Providing them with the knowledge of an alternative source of income Giving them vocational training on the manyfacturing of cloth bags Providing them material and tools

The project will also focus on involving the other members of family into this profession,i.e the women ,since this can be easliy done as a job work at home. This will help in improving the overall income of the family by a reasonable margin also.

At the end of this first stage,the project aims at completion of the following objectives: Achieving a minimal stable income

Steady increase in income during this phase Making them self reliant so that they can purchase the raw material themselves Involvment of other members of the family into manufacturing Also it hopes of developing a sensitivity amonst them for the environment. Income surpassed the poverty line within the initiation phase itself
