Methodological notes
Goods transported with road, naval and air
transport includes goods transported with own or
rented transport means, regardless of the place of
departure or arrival.
Goods transport by railway includes the goods
laden in freight cars and transported by railway, regardless of place of arrival. Also, there are included
the goods laden on a foreign railway and transported
by Moldovan railway to be unladen in the country or
for transit.
For the calculation of weight of transported
goods, it is taken into account the weight of packages
or containers used for transportation.
Turnover of goods is determined by the weight
of transported goods and the distance passed by the
vehicles which carry out the transportation, from the
place of departure to the place of arrival.
Passengers transported express the number of
transported persons, during one year, including the
passengers benefiting of privileges in transport.
Passenger turnover represents the volume of
passenger transport, determined by the number of

transported passengers and the distance which was
passed.
Since 1995, the length of public roads was recalculated in the frame of borders of right side of river
Nistru.
Public roads are meant for the satisfaction of
needs of national economy, population, state defense
and are managed by a state body. The public roads
are divided by their function in national and local.
National roads ensure the connection between
the capital city and the municipalities, towns or other
important localities and also with the neighbour
countries.
Local roads ensure the connection between the
towns, communes and villages in the borders of the
county, or with neighbouring counties, and also with
other points situated out of the borders of the locality
and not included in the national roads.
Railway route miles these are the route miles
used for the transportation of passengers and goods.

Indicatorii privind activitatea de pot i telecomunicaii exprim serviciile efectuate de unitile
Ministerului Transporturilor i Comunicaiilor (inclusiv societatea pe aciuni creat pe baza acestora).
Telecomunicaiile de folosin general presteaz servicii de telecomunicaii agenilor economici i populaiei.
Corespondena expediat reflect traficul de

plecare al scrisorilor, crilor potale i pachetelor
mici (simple, rapide, recomandate i cu valoare).
Mandatele nregistreaz numrul mandatelor
potale i telegrafice predate (cu plat i de serviciu),
inclusiv mandatele de pensii.

Methodological notes
The indicators on the activity of post and telecommunications reflect the services provided by the
enterprises of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (including the joint stock company established on their basis).
Telecommunications for general use provide
services to economic units and population.

The written correspondence reflects the outgoing exchange of letters, cards and postal wrappers
(simple, rapid, registered and valuable).
Money order records the outgoing money orders (paid and official), by post and telegraph, including the payment of pensions.
