The object of the game is to move all of your checkers to the finishing table and then bear them off. The first player to bear off all their checkers wins the game. We know it existed because it influenced other popular games, like the game of nard.

Are there other existing names for this game? Yes, it is also referred to as alea; which means gambling. The game of Tabula is also related to other games one of them is the Egyptian game called Senet.

Tabula means table or board Tabula is also the game which was primarily responsible for the gambling mania which swept Rome prior to its being declared illegal under the Republic. Tabula has been modernized and is now called backgammon.
