THE PEOPLE OF TAO-CHOU

Po Chu-1

Po Chu-I (772-846) was a government official considered as one of the greatest

poets of the Tang Dynasty. He incorporated satire and social purpose in many of his

works, which are usually poems in ballad style. His work also served as a protest

against contemporary evils and various government policies. The elegance of his poetry

contributed to its popularity.

The poem tells about the sufferings of the people to the emperor. It is really

related to Marxism theory. Because this poem stated in-equality between the emperor and

the people where treating as a dwarf slaves. All people became a slave of the emperor for

how many years. They offering of natural products from the land of Tao-Chou.

The people of Tao-Chou are lacked of freedom to live a normal like the other

people live their own country. They were not taking a rest on time because of their job,

were also past on the limitation as being a human one.

One day because of yang Ch’eng, he governs the land and sent up dwarf slaves or

the man slaves in spite of never stopping a command. Simply because his not a kind of a

person to do or act for what the e emperor wants. He fought the emperor to commit the

freedom of the people of Tao-Chou. And because of his bravery the land of Tao-Chou

have a granted peaceful and freedom that was a very big blessings and gift for us.

From now on they lived as free man. When the boys are born the syllable “yang”

or their first name is Yang, follows their real name as symbolizes of Yang Ch’eng. The
man that give us a freedom for having equality with each other. This poem is happened in

our realistic life.

I therefore conclude, equality is the important factor as being a human. Give and

take, and loving care with each other.

 A HOUSE FULL OF DAUGHTERS

Kerima Polotan Tuvera

Kerima Polotan tuvera was born in Jolo, Sulu. She edited the first anthology

with became a palanca prize winner. She was several times winner in the Carlos

Palanca Memorial Awardsin Literature in different years. She was also an awardee of

the Stonehill Novel Award for her ‘The Hand of the Enemy”. She was married to Juan

Tuvera, also a writer.

The story tells about the motherhood between her seven daughters. This story is

the real related to feminism theory. Because all of this characters are female like, the

mother, seven daughters, and her friend.

The main setting of this story is in the house, where are full of young women. The

motherhood is not kidding because she raises her own seven daughters alone. The mother

here is a good model and her children are the good follower. She cared and loved her

siblings.

Many sacrifices, sufferings, and struggle of the motherhood to raise the child by

their own ability. And someday the mother attempted to near-suicide because of the crises

in their life. But, although the mother cannot give those things that the seven daughters

needed. She gives a lot of discipline as being a good mother like her 7 daughters learns to

do by herself.

Motherhood is new dimensions. Like taking care of her children and teach them

some good manner, a new level of pain, another depth of heartbreak, and a truer height of
joy. Like the elders say’s that wherever that you are tired, but because you have siblings,

you’re blessed because they give them full happiness. The mother of the seven children

was not the complete mother, not beautiful in her motherhood but she was lucky for

having disciplinarian daughters although they belong in the poor family.

I therefore conclude, the motherhood is not easily to care of a very big family

lalot higit she raise her own child alone. The standard of life is not measured to be a

successful.
