Spatial Design Take me on a journey Internal Assessment Resolve a Spatial design through Graphics Practice

(Summative Assessment) 6 Credits GRADE:

Evidence
Problem: You are to design either the building envelope for the Coffee shop or design the lights to be put within the space. Your design must be inspired by a journey to Waiheke Island. You must represent your personal experience within the design. Specifications: Architecture: You need to include: Designing a space with interior/exterior flow Seat 20 people Include area for kitchen and counter Include bathroom/storage area You should consider: Childrens area Sun direction and wind limitations Possible landscape design Building materials (these could be influenced from your Journey experience Design requirements: Spatial design knowledge includes: market research, mockups, design sketching, critiques. Technical knowledge or materials, construction, cladding, sustainability and environmental considerations (e.g sun, wind, typography, views) You could explore this through: architectural drawings, rendering, models and/or animation.

Achievement
Resolve a spatial design through graphics practice Students Should: Explore, refine and show design ideas based on unpicking the design context (including opportunities and restraints) and showing an understanding of spatial design knowledge. Communicating a spatial design that addresses identified opportunities, constraints and given brief

Achievement with Merit

Clearly resolve a spatial design through graphics practice

Achievement with Excellence

Effectively resolve a spatial design through graphics practice Students should: Make informed designer decisions that integrate spatial design knowledge, and understanding of the wider environmental conditions and human factors related to the design context. Communicating a spatial design that is justified in terms of the significant opportunities and constraints.

Students Should: Explore the wider environmental conditions and human factors related to the design context to identify and show the opportunities and constraints. Communicating a spatial design that addresses significant opportunities and constraints.

Problem: You are to design either the building envelope for the Coffee shop or design the lights to be put within the space. Your design must be inspired by a journey to Waiheke Island. You must represent your personal experience within the design. Lighting design: You need to include: The product must be influenced from your journey/experience Must not exceed 5m in length/height Ensure you address the brief in terms of where will it be placed in your space and taking into consideration: size, aesthetic, construction, and how can you make it ergonomic and user-friendly You should consider: Elements of function relating to this type of product (such as ergonomics, shape, movement, maintenance, durability) Elements of Aesthetics relating to Product Design (such as style, form, shape, and colour) Design requirements: Resolve a product design through graphics practice. Product design knowledge includes: market research, anthropometrics, ergonomics, mockups and models. Technical knowledge of materials, joining, fittings, assembly, finish, fasteners, sustainability and environmental considerations. You could show this through product design drawings, rendering, prototypes, models and animation

Exhibition Design: Internal Assessment

Develop a visual presentation that exhibits a design outcome to an audience

(Summative Assessment)
6 Credits GRADE:

Evidence
Problem: You need to develop a visual presentation to be exhibited to an audience of people. You need to think about the space you are working within and exhibit your work in the best way possible. Specifications: You must present all or your best parts of your assignment. This can be done in 2d, 3d or 4d forms, and may include digital applications, photography, models, conventional drawing and sketching methods. You must show an understanding between the viewer and the outcome to be exhibited and the space it sits within You must show understanding of compositional modes and media and presentation techniques and formats Your work should speak for itself (i.e. without you there explaining it) Design requirements: Develop a visual presentation that exhibits a design outcome to an audience Exhibits a design outcome means, visually presenting information in such a way that it conveys the intent and qualities of the outcome without the designers physical presence Exhibition knowledge refers to understanding the relationships between the viewer and the outcome to be exhibited, the exhibition space as well as understanding of compositional media and modes, presentation techniques and formats.

Achievement
Develop a visual presentation that exhibits a design outcome to an audience Students Should: Select and apply presentation techniques and formats to communicate visual information to an audience within an exhibition space(s) Make design decisions to develop an exhibition that is informed by research, the needs of an audience, the exhibition space and the nature of the design outcome to be presented.

Achievement with Merit

Develop a visual presentation that clearly exhibits a design outcome to an audience

Achievement with Excellence

Develop a visual presentation that effectively exhibits a design outcome to an audience Students should: Skilfully integrate techniques and formats that promote the design intentions of the outcome in a convincing manner Make informed designer decisions that integrate the exhibition design knowledge, and the nature of the design outcome

Students Should: Integrate presentation techniques and formats to communicate a organised visual presentation Make informed design decisions that draws from exhibition design knowledge and the nature of the design outcome
