Lesson Plan: Math Carousel Race Basketball skill review: Grades K-5 Objectives: PE K-5 1.

.1 Locomotor skills (walking, running, jumping, hopping, skipping, sliding, galloping, leaping) PE K-5 1.2 Manipulative skills (throwing, catching, kicking, punting, dribbling, volleying, hitting) PE K-5 1.3 Transitions in locomotor skills Math: K-2 addition and subtraction word problems 3-5 Multiplication and Division word problems Grouping: 3-4 students per group based on the number of students in the class assign team jobs: team leader (makes sure ALL students are participating in both the academic and skill) scribe (reads the problem and writes down the math work and answer) work checker (double checks the math work) skill checker (makes sure each team member is completing the skill and encourages students when having trouble helps if needed) Materials: 6 - Clipboards with pencil 4 hula hoops 1 basketball per student spread out through the stations (3-5 per station) Station numbers 1-6 Word problems 5 - cones

Lesson Plan:
Students complete a math carousel race and use the answers from their math problems to practice basketball skills learned during the week. Once the carousel is finished the team brings the clipboard to the teacher with their math work and answers. Station 1: (3) Math Word Problem:

How many packages are there? Basketball Skill: Dribbling K- 1 students dribble standing inside of the hula hoop without the ball going outside.
