She was watching a pair of swans swimming gracefully on the lake. Suddenly, she saw a fox. It was making for the swans nest, in which there were four baby cygnets. Oh no! she thought. What if it kills the babies? She turned and called out to her friends, Tom, Connie! Look, theres a fox! The children ran towards the fox, but the male swan had already paddled quickly towards the fox. It stood in the water, flapped its wings furiously, and hissed loudly, driving the fox away. Wow! exclaimed Tom, looking at the angry swan. I had no idea that swans could show such anger or courage. That is a really impressive bird.
