Lesson 6 Hot seating activity A character is questioned by the group about his or her background, behaviour and motivation.

The method may be used for developing a role in the drama lesson or rehearsals, or analysing a play post-performance. Even done without preparation, it is an excellent way of fleshing out a character. Characters may be hot-seated individually, in pairs or small groups. The technique is additionally useful for developing questioning skills with the rest of the group. When I hot seated I intended on hot seating with the sole intention of being Nick Bottom. I faced a different way to connote the big headed character that I was portraying; I also was restless and agitated showing the clear flamboyant personality that Nick possesses. Cams hot seating was particularly effective as he did a lot of movement on the chair, showing his immortality, and his fairy like spirit. It was a clear connotation. The Vision The group also discussed the vision of the performance of AMND. We decided to have a scaffold centre stage; this can represent a council house block, as we wanted the Athenian characters to be chav like urban London kids. We also wanted to have a giant glaring mood that would dilate, grow and get smaller as the love juice was bestowed on the characters. This would be good as we wanted the characters to be induced under drugs of love instead of having a juice. WWW> this lesson allowed me to un skin the character of bottom and allowed me to access who he is as a person through the hot seating activity. And establishing a vision has help me grasp the mood, style and costume needed to make this drama a success. EBI> A target for me is to dig deep even more into my character, and begin to learn lines, and block the piece.
