Desalination
Two main processes are used to desalinate sea water: reverse osmosis (RO) and thermal. RO systems are less forgiving in terms of pre-treatment than thermal processes. Automatic filters before RO and UF membranes offer valuable protection by removing organisms, organic matter and inorganic compounds such as precipitated salts and clay silt. Acting as a pre filter, they increase recovery rates and reduce chemical consumption and subsequent disposal during membrane cleaning. Furthermore, automatic filters provide a clean technology solution by reducing the energy budget of the desalination process.
