Occupational Accident 2-114 TOR FUTURA Occupational accident 23 July 2006 During loading trailers, vans and cars in the Port of Immingham on 23 July 2006, one crewmember became seriously injured when he was hit by a car and pressed hardly against a van on the ships main deck. The car was being reversed on the deck when the driver, who was a port operative (stevedore), lost control of it. The injured crewmember was hospitalized. He had suffered fractures on both legs. The Investigation Division recommends the shipping company that crewmembers are instructed to report to the duty officer in case of excessive speed or dangerous driving during loading or discharging vehicles. This for the duty officer to take appropriate action. 23 July 2006 DMA
