In order to train teachers how to use Edmodo, I have created video tutorials and set up an Edmodo classroom for discussions and assignment completion. The instructional materials for this project include 22 short video tutorials and 4 assignments or activities to complete on Edmodo, as well as optional collaboration on Edmodo. The videos are embeded on the Canyon Lake Professional Development website. The instruction will be self-paced primarily, but with a short group presentation to begin the training as well. The group presentation is designed to get all teachers started on Edmodo, ensure that they know how to find the instructional materials and can access the Edmodo Training Group, and to answer any questions. This face-to-face session will help ease reluctant teachers into the idea of using technology in their classrooms. Because there are so many video tutorials, there needs to be a self-paced aspect to the course in order to complete each objective on the teachers own time. I also designed the course this way to ensure that more teachers would participate. With the ability to watch one or two very short tutorials at a time, it is more likely that teachers will complete the training and actually begin to use the technology in their classrooms.

What is Edmodo?
Edmodo is a secure social network that allows teachers to take their classrooms online. Edmodo allows teachers to digitize their classrooms, collaborate with fellow teachers, motivate reluctant learners, teach to many different learning styles, and communicate effectively to both students and parents.
Why Edmodo?
Social Learning has become a very important learning theory as Neomillennial learning styles become more prevalent. Edmodo allows teachers to immerse their students in their education through accessible online connections, rich experiences with technology, and vast social learning opportunities. For older students, this technology is become a way for teachers to flip their classrooms (assign video lectures for homework, and allow students to work on assignments in class where they can get feedback and guidance from the teacher). Elementary school is a great time to introduce this technology to students to ensure that they can use it later without a learning curve, because they already know how to navigate the technology.
Asynchronous Sessions
For the subsequent asynchronous independent sessions, teachers will: 1. Access videos independently, completing each step on Edmodo as they view the videos 2. Create their own Edmodo Group and begin to set up their Edmodo classroom 3. Complete the following assignments: a. b. c. d. e. f. Reply to a Note on the RCAS Edmodo Training Group Take a Poll on the RCAS Edmodo Training Group Reply to the Poll with one idea for how to use Polls in their own classroom Take a quiz on the RCAS Edmodo Training Group Reply to the quiz with one idea for how to use quizzes in their own classrooms Access an assignment on Edmodo in which they will plan how to introduce Edmodo to their parents and students, and personalize an Edmodo permission slip to send home with students in Tuesday Folders. g. Download and upload a file to complete the Edmodo assignment on the RCAS Edmodo Training Group h. Return to the RCAS Edmodo Training Group periodically to collaborate and share ideas with their colleagues.
