Geothermia
What is Geothermia?
Geothermia is defined as the exploitation of underground energy
from earth, by using a geothermal heating pump allows transfer of
heat to and from the ground, to produce cooling, heating and hot
water for domestic use or other applications.

Operating principle

A full installation of shallow geothermal consists of the

following sections:

a) geothermal heating pump

b) underground piping loops as a heat exchanger, which is
a closed HDPE piping system, passed over by a special
antifreeze solution.
c) heating or cooling network of the house (building).
Network systems such as underfloor heating or fan coils
can be used for heating or cooling.
d) automation of the installation.

Geothermal Systems
Horizontal Closed Loops
Pits of 2m depth are dug or total excavation
of the area if space permits and piping loop
is positioned. Used almost exclusively
whenever there is a sufficient area of land
as it is the most economical solution.

Vertical Closed Loops

Pipes from HDPE U-shaped are placed in
small drilled holes with relative shallow
depths, acting as a heat exchanger.
Pipes are vertical in the ground & special
antifreeze solution passes through them.
Used whenever there isnt a sufficient area
of land and the horizontal system cannot
be applied.

Lake or Pond Closed Loops

If a pond or lake is available, the heat
pump loops can utilize the water rather
than the soil to transfer heat. In this case
the pipe loop must be weighted properly
to remain at the bottom of the lake.

Open Loops
Open loop systems extract or eject heat
directly from or to a water well, returning
the water in accordance with
environmental regulations. Water quality
and quantity must be ensured before an
installation of this type can be done.

Installation Guide -

Cut the pipe vertically to its axis.

Smooth the side of the pipe you want to weld,

clearing it from any residual.

Mark the welding depth upon the pipe.

Heat simultaneously the parts you want to

weld together.

When the parts have been heated, pull

simultaneously.

Join the parts together within the allowed

time without rotating and keep under
pressure for a few seconds.
