MATHEU is a theater actor, director, choreographer and teacher. As a stage actor, he has done 36 professional plays for various theater companies like Repertory Philippines, Trumpets, Gantimpala Theater Foundation, Stages, Dulaang U.P., Philippine Opera Company, 9 Works Theatrical, 4th Wall Theater Company, The World Theater Project, Chancel Repertory Theater, The Company of Players, among others. He has appeared in 9 different independent short and full-length films and documentaries. He was a university student when theater beckoned and debuted in the Manila Metropolitan Theatres production of ROMEO & JULIET in 1995 under the direction of Prof. Tony Mabesa. In 1996, Francis received a scholarship grant in film acting from Actors Workshop Foundation and finished a course in Stage Craft in 2001 under Prof. Amiel Leonardia at the University of the Philippines. In 2002, he trained for six months under 3 Japanese masters of Kabuki in preparation for Dulaang U.P.s production of KANJINCHO, the first Kabuki play in Philippine Theater done by Filipinos in the Japanese and Filipino languages. In 2003, Francis appeared in the award-winning independent film HEAVENS CRADLE as Caloy. In 2004, he attended an acting workshop conducted by Londons Royal Academy of Dramatic Art through The British Council under Dee Cannons. In 2005, Francis completed a course in lighting design under Naomi Shoko Matsumoto at the Sinag Arts Foundation.
