To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter of recommendation on behalf of Kelsey Reppart who taught Language Arts social studies and !"L at "hanghai Community International "chool while I was the high school principal at the school# I had the pleasure of $nowing of and wor$ing with Kelsey for the best part of two years from %&&' to %&(&# There are two campuses at "hanghai Community International "chool )udong and *ong+iao and Kelsey initially taught ,th grade Language Arts at the )udong campus# -./ of her students were !"L students and this re+uired Kelsey to de0elop an accelerated reading program for these students# While at )udong Kelsey also taught high school 1ournalism de0eloping and introducing a curriculum for this particular course# It incorporated print 1ournalism radio 1ournalism and T2 broadcasting# !ach wee$ Kelsey3s students produced a school4wide broadcast that was shown in the school3s homerooms# The 0ideos created were creati0e witty entertaining and informati0e and the productions were a great success# Kelsey also taught middle school T!) 5Teach !nglish )rogram6 at )udong which re+uired her to create indi0iduali7ed programs for her ,th grade students because of the differing le0els of !nglish proficiency within the class# Kelsey recalls the dramatic progress of Cheryl a Taiwanese student in her class who went in a few months from spea$ing not a single word of !nglish to a point where she could e8press herself 0erbally in a reasonably proficient fashion# Kelsey was the ad0isor to the 9lobal Issues :etwor$ program which successfully implemented a school4wide recycling program in0ol0ing many segments of the school and the local community# The increase in the student population on the *ong+iao campus re+uired Kelsey to transfer to that campus in %&&, where she was responsible initially for teaching high school !"L# In her second semester at *ong+iao Kelsey co4taught -th grade !nglish with another middle school !nglish teacher# Kelsey pro0ided the !"L support for the !nglish classes creating differentiated instruction for the !"L students for most acti0ities and lessons# Kelsey also implemented her own persuasi0e writing unit# As support for the other teacher she planned graded and co4taught the unit# Kelsey also pro0ided accelerated and !"L support for ;th and -th grade Language Arts classes for another teacher and ser0ed as the teacher3s mentor# In Kelsey3s second year on the *ong+iao campus she taught ;th grade social studies# This was Kelsey3s first time teaching social studies and through hard wor$ her organi7ation and her inno0ati0e approaches she made a great success of this new initiati0e# As well as teaching social studies Kelsey also
