Year 7 Homework - Using Poems as a framework Read the poem and do the tasks at the end of the poem

Due Date: Feb 12.

Holiday
I remember the sea The sea Moaning, rumbling, grumbling, roaring, Playing like a lion on the sinking yellow sands, Pouncing and retreating in a swell of white-green passion And dying Dying. I remember the night, Serene above the water, pulsing deep below, In a dark disguise of moonlight Fluttering over silver sands and fading, Fading into dimness far away. I remember the sun, The burning warmth of human flesh on silky dunes, The gravel heat beneath two weary feet And the scorched, parched throats, Choking dry. I remember the days, The glorious journeys into the sunset, The sea and nights and sun The summer heat and weariness and erst And happiness.

Use the poem above as a framework for your own poem. Notice how each stanza begins with a I remember. In this way each stanza captures a particular memory that the poet has of a holiday that she enjoyed. When you write your poem you could try this approach: I remember the beach. Covering dad with golden sand as he slept, Watching the brilliant scarlet kite Soar and dive in the playful wind

Task By Brian Patten

A sample poem based on the poem A Small Dragon The Rainbow Ive found a small rainbow in the garden. Think it must have come from a tropical Island because its colours hold splinters of sunshine and palm. I looked after it carefully, tied rainwater. and our gardens September sunshine, but it became dull as if to say, I need something you cant provide.

I made it a little crock of gold, not unlike those in books of fairy tales, but its out of place here and is growing quite, quite pale. If you believed in it I would come hurrying to your house to let you share my wonder, but I want instead to see if you yourself will pass this way.
