Student Safety Meeting 02/18/2014 Description of the student safety concern: Student has a history of stating threats to bring

weapons to school. These threats have been very detailed on types of weapons, where to get them, and step by step plans to attack and kill school staff. Student had brought a screw driver to school during the 2011-12 school year. Student attempted to use the screw driver to attack staff during a behavioral incident. In the 2012-13 school year, Student stole a saw blade from the wood working classroom and threatened to use it to inflict harm upon staff. During the 2013-14 school year, Student confiscated a grapefruit peeler from a staff and attempted to use it during a behavioral incident to inflict harm upon staff. Most recently on February 18, 2014, it was reported that Student was seen with a pocket knife on the school bus. When Students backpack was searched a pocket knife was found. Description of prevention strategies suggested by staff: Suspension Physical Searching Metal Detectors Metal Wand Administrations rule on the matter: Student would not be suspended due to age (4th grade). Staff can request that student empty his pockets each day and have backpack searched daily. Safety plan to be implemented: Upon entering the building, staff will collect all of Students belonging at the door. Student will present waistband, sock bands, and turn pockets inside out. Student will not longer have access to a school locker or backpack during the school day. All of Students belongings will be locked up during the school day. Student is now subject to random searches throughout the school day. Changes has been implemented into Students behavior plan and parents have signed the Prior Written Notice.
