Lesson overview
Students are to create a Diorama of their theme park using a variety of resources and materials. This is to be done over 2 lessons and at home if necessary. It will be more of a visual representation of the theme park than a to scale model. Resources Various art and reclined materials egg. Cardboard, paper, figurines, foam etc. Lesson 1 Time 20 minutes Steps Students plan and design their diorama by sketching and labelling their ideas. Teacher Notes Check for understanding: Make sure all students understand the task. Showing students examples of dioramas to help them understand may be necessary. Ensure safety standards in terms of scissors etc. are being met.
20 minutes
After having their plans approved by the teacher, any necessary changes are made and they can begin collecting materials/working. Pack up
5 minutes
Ensure they is a large enough and safe space for students work to be stored
Lesson 2 Time 40 minutes 5 minutes Steps Students collect work and keep working on dioramas Pack up Teacher Notes Ensure students are aware of the time constraints
Assessment Assessable evidence of students learning will include: The level of understanding shown throughout the activity. Participation in discussions. Students creativity/effort put into the diorama Did the students represent their theme parks sufficiently?
Self-assessment:
Ask yourself these questions: Did the lesson go to plan? Were the students engaged throughout the whole lesson? Did it work with a whole class discussion? Did any students need any extra one-on-one help to achieve a better understanding? Would you change anything? Was there enough time for students to get everything done and produce their best possible work (if not, consider giving students more time)
