Bullying Bullying is a very delicate topic for some people. I chose to research this particular topic because I feel some people dont think bullying is a serious topic. This is a very important issue because bulling can injure someone physically and mentally. Bullying has occurred amongst teens for many years, and is still occurring today. I think bullies take advantage of people because they may be different from others. When someone is bullied, it may lower their selfesteem and confidence within themselves. As a young child I witnessed people getting bullied all around me. One particular day I was in class, and a very timid girl just sat at her desk doing her work. She wasnt a very outgoing person, and people would always look at her as if she were a creature of some sort. The girls hair stuck up off her head like spikes on a porcupine. Her clothes werent up to the latest trend and they looked like hand me downs. I was taught as a young girl to accept everyone and their flaws. Some boys from my class whispered demeaning remarks to the young girl. At that moment, the girl tried to shrug the boys remarks off, but I could tell they were getting to her. The boys later stopped teasing her and went even further to kicking her seat. As I watched the obnoxious boys kick her seat, I felt very helpless. When I was younger, telling on people while

Young 2 they were doing something bad was considered snitching. At that moment I didnt tell the teacher, but I felt very bad for the girl. I really regret not letting the teacher know what was going on. I glanced at her, and saw that she was crying. The boys kicked her chair one more time, and then she turned around and asked them politely to stop kicking her chair. Be quiet little girl, youre weird, one of the immature boys exclaimed. After the rebellious boy said that to her she immediately busted back into tears, and she went to tell the teacher what happened. Shes is lying, I did not kick her chair at all or call her names, the boys shouted as they were escorted out of classroom. The girls face was as red as a round tomato, but she wore a smile on her face as if she had won a million dollars. The girl looked as if she was relieved when the boys exited the room. During my initial research, I discovered an article called Teen Bullying: A Part of Growing Up? from the website John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Bullying has a major effect on adolescents. This article states that a survey was taken and it showed that 5.7 million teens were a victim of bullying. Many teens bully each other due to many things. Some teens may get bullied due to their appearance to the world and their social life. A person can get bullied by both physical attacks and cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is bullying someone over technology or over the internet. Cyber bullying is much tougher for one to depart from. Cyber bullying may occur at any time over text messaging, e-mail, and social media. Majority of teenagers cyber bully over text messaging. If one cyber bullies, it may lead to the physical form of bullying. Myths describe bullies as insecure, and some may even be very confident in themselves. Bulling takes place a lot at schools, and it usually occurs amongst boys. People dont realize how much bullying can affect the victims life. Bullying can cause a teen to become very afraid, anxious, and even stressed. When bullies get older they may face problems in their life,

Young 3 and they may even indulge in drug use, shoplifting, and vandalism. Some teens may speak out against bullying and observe their behavior to decreases bullying. I would like to continue researching this particular topic for several reasons. I think there is more to bullying than some people may actually know. I am against bullying because I think it is very harmful to people. Some bullies may bully others to make themselves feel better or just to see the victim at a vulnerable state. People around our nation should take heed and really try to stop bullying if they see it occurring. Bullying may cause teenagers to not be able to participate in certain things at school. Bullying is also causing many teenagers to commit suicide. I want to continue researching bullying because I want to learn more about how bullying affects teenagers and what are some things other people can do to prevent it.
