Hip hop first appeared in America in the 1970s. It grew up in the places where poor people, coloured skin people meet. In hip hop there can be a DJ (music player), a rapper, a graffiti person (Paint sprayer), a break-dancer, popper and locker. You can also have a beat boxer or a hip hop fashioner.

Ballet
Ballet is a mixture of technique. It is a dance that you dance to your feelings. It takes years to perfect. It is also a classical dance. Its kind of gymnastic and acrobatic. Ballet is not just dance. It is very difficult to do. Some people refer it to : the most difficult thing in the world.

Modern
Modern dancing is different to ballet because you need to focus, not to express your feelings. In ballet, you have to follow a routine. But in modern dancing, you can create new routines. Another difference is in gravity. Ballet dances often stay on the ground, while modern dancers can fall to the ground. Modern dancers often wear a costume and often bare feet.

Folk
Folk dancing is where people dance the traditional way. Vietnamese folk dancers dance the traditional Vietnamese way. Folk dancing groups are groups of happy people and a caller. Folk dancers usually form a circle or a straight line or another patterns. Folk dancing is a very good way to exercise and it is for all ages.

Jazz
Jazz dance is a fun quality dance where you turn, leap and do other things. You need to have good footwork to do jazz. It is one of the most popular dances now because it usually appears on TV shows. Jazz dancing is where people express their individual styles. Jazz clothing is casual because it is an individual style dance.

Tap
Tap dancing is where you have shoes that tap. It is actually invented before tap shoes are invented in the mid-1600s in America. Tap dancers use their tap shoes to make beats. Some people use all parts of their shoes to make drum like sounds. Some tap shoes are flat. Some have a heel. Usually tap shoe colours are black white and beige.

Ballroom
Ballroom dancing is getting more popular. Its very easy. Every ballroom dance needs 2 people Some types of ballroom dancing are: Cha-cha: You need to make every move perfectly Tango: It is one of the most fascinating dances. Waltz: One of the softest dances. You turn a lot and do lots of soft moves. Samba: The most popular dance in Brazil. It can also be performed solo.
