PSPICE and Its Origin

PSPICE Simulation Program for Integrated Circuit Emphasis Open source program for circuit design
Observe the circuit behavior Developed by University of California (1973) Originally owned by Micro Sim and then by ORCAD

Now owned by Cadence

Advantages of PSPICE
Economic- Does not need to setup real experiment Allows to explore multiple plots simultaneously like voltage, power etc

Wide library of commercial electrical components

Exploring results that is not possible by experimentation

Operating Procedure
Where to start? How to run the simulation?

Calculating Voltage, Current, and Power

Disadvantages of PSPICE

Only ideal circuit performance can be predicted

Only allow to select component with industry standard parts number and specification Setting parameters can be difficult
